| Sevillanas Club coming soon to Orihuela Costa Resort
Due to popular demand, Raquel Peña will be starting a new Sevillanas club at the Hole in One Pub at the Orihuela Costa Resort, starting on Sunday 27 July.
Raquel, who is the artistic director at the Orihuela Costa Resort, currently teaches sevillanas to adults of all nationalities at her dance academy in Pilar de la Horadada. These classes have proved to be extremely popular and her students have asked her to form this club to give them the opportunity to meet other people interested in this Spanish art form. Raquel Peña said: “Sevillanas is a folk dance, loved by the Spanish, and is becoming more popular among other nationalities living in Spain. It is a wonderful way to integrate into the Spanish way of life.”
The Sevillanas Club will include dance demonstrations, the stories behind the dances and the music, and learning how to clap in time to the rhythms. If enough new people are interested, she plans to start classes for people to learn dance steps and body movements. |
 |
| Raquel said: “The Club is open to all people of all ages, regardless of their physical abilities. There is full wheelchair access throughout the Orihuela Costa Resort.”
Demonstrations will be conducted firstly in Spanish and translated into English, offering non-Spanish speakers the chance to learn a little Spanish as well. It is likely that Raquel will also bring some of her dancers from the Raquel Peña Spanish Dance Company to perform at the gatherings from time to time.
The Sevillanas Club begins on Sunday 27 July at 6 pm. The entrance fee is 10 euros per person and this includes a drink and tapas. Get-togethers will continue thereafter on the last Sunday of every month, beginning at the same time, and everyone is welcome to stay as long as they like.
The Hole in One Pub is fully air conditioned and is situated inside the Orihuela Costa Resort next to the restaurant.
To take part in this new Sevillanas club call Raquel Peña on 630 689 431 or the Orihuela Costa Resort on 966 760 800. |
