BOB's Match reports
Match report for
Saturday 10th January SMT v Dolores
Against Top of the League Dolores it would never be easy, but first match back and the lads looked determined.
5 minutes in and Ollie took a shot which was saved by the goalie, 10 minutes in and this time the goalie had no chance as Ollie kicked the ball in the back of the net.
Dolores were all over us and kept getting close to scoring but thanks to some fantastic defending by Jesus and
Hector they only got a few shots at goal, thankfully off target.
With a half time lead 1-0, second half changes were made, perhaps not for the good as within minutes Dolores
had equalised and then got another. The second half was dominated by Dolores and we only had 1 shot at goal and a free kick at goal which hit he post but was a good attempt by Chendry.
Final score was a disaster at 1-5. Goal scorer Ollie &
Man of the match Jesus
Next match is at home against local team Montesinos, who SMT lost to earlier in
the season.
Saturday 20th December SMT -v- Villena...a 3-2 win for SMT
It was an early start as SMS headed of to 3rd from bottom Villena in the mountains. The match started on time in what is a very impressive sports centre and stadium. It was nice to have a full squad as everyone is now back from match bans.
All was even for the first ten minutes until Jeison ran with the ball and passed to Ollie ( back from a 2 match ban) who knocked in our first goal.
The 2 match break must have done Ollie good as within 5 minutes Mikel passed to him and another goal was knocked in 2-0.
At this stage SMS were all over the other team and realistically they could not be seen to come back.As they say never say never and SMT scored an own goal 1-2 then from a corner a villena player volleyed the ball into the net 2-2 at half time.
As the second half kicked off, Jeison gets the ball and shoots 2-3. With SMT back on top and despite many attempts, Villena could not pull back again. A good friendly match and a good result moving SMS into 6Th place and only 3 points from the promotion zone.
Man of the match Ollie for basically tearing the opposition apart... And on another note if you fancy a day out visit Villena. It is a medium sized town (similar to Pilar de la Horadada) with a castle and fantastic views.
BOB's Match report for Sunday 14th December SMT - v - Pablo Iglesias B
Another week and another important match. This time against a team SMT felt they could overcome even with players still missing due to red cards.Overcome they did with a fantastic 7-0 victory.
This not only gives SMS a plus goal difference but also moving up the table another place.
SMS are now joint 6th which really is an achievement considering they have moved up a league from last season.
Saturday 20th SMS are off to Villena who are near the bottom of the league ,If SMS can pull off an away win ( with their full squad ) this will put them in a good position for the second half of the league in the new year. Goal scorers: Mikel 3, Jose manuel 1, Jose 2, Verde 1 & Man of the match Mikel for a hat trick
BOB's Match report for
Sunday 7th December SMT v Kelme (4-4)
It was a nice sunny afternoon at SMdS as a good crowd of
over 100 spectators saw an exciting match. Both teams
started out looking pretty even and the score was showing
just that 20 minutes in and all level at 1 each, but
suddenly Kelme seemed to up the tempo and it soon became 1-2
and then 1-3... It was not looking and good as half time
approached. |

BOB's Man of the Match VERDE

The second half began and SMS looked like a
different team , they came out fast and hard
SMS soon got a goal back 2-3. Not wanting to
lose especially at home they dug deep and
got another 3-3. This was now becoming very
tense, Kelme get a red and are now down to
10 men, could this be the chance for SMT? It
could have been, but Kelme sink another goal
3-4 with a fantastic overhead kick. Disaster
seems to strike as SMS then have a player
sent off, now its 10 men each. Not giving in SMS push forward and level
4-4. The whistle blows.

To come from behind this was a good result
with a team that still has some of our
starting line up missing. Final score 4-4 (Goalscorers Jose, Mikel, Jeison & Luis)

BOB's Match Report for the AWAY Game Redovan v SMT - 29th November
A cold Saturday afternoon at Redovan saw The SMT line up still changed slightly due to some outstanding red cards.
The match kicked off at a very fast pace. Both teams were putting in a lot of effort and everything was looking even.
Then 20 minutes in we were with the ball in front of the goal with all the Redovan team in the way. We took a shot, then another off the rebound, then another and finally Chendry ran onto the ball kicked it.
San Miguel Tabisam 0-1 and looking good into half time. The second half
began and it looked more aggressive and faster paced. Redovan seemed more interested in tripping us up than playing
football, but it seemed to pay off as 10 minutes in Redovan scored 1-1 another 10 minutes and they score again. Now
SMT have to try to pull this back, trying harder and faster but just not scoring.
Redovan were still tripping and pushing players until Ollie snapped and pushed back (after being kicked in the stomach); unfortunately the ref only saw Ollie pushing back and
he was given an instant red card! This was the final nail and minutes later the whistle went.
Final result 2-1 to Redovan.

Match report for Saturday
22nd November from BOB
Once again SMT found
themselves short of 3 top team players due to last weeks
match, with 2 getting red cars whilst playing and 1 getting
a red card after the match! The result of last weeks post
match entertainment gave 3 players a 1 match ban, a 3 match
ban, a 4 match ban and a fine. So with a few subs starting
and some positions changing was time to start the match.
Once again it looked like we
may take a fast lead as clearly we were the better team. In a
very short time Ollie had had 2 headers at goal and Jeison
had a shot but unfortunately for SMT the best player on the
other team was the goalie who saves every shot. SMT played a
good game with the ball mainly in the oppositions half but
at half time it was still 0-0
This was proving very
frustrating. The second half begun and Aspe looked more
determined. It was not long before they had some shots at
goal but thanks to Hectors diving the score remained at 0-0.
Ten minutes to go ,the coach and team were getting
frustrated then Mikel gets the ball at the halfway line and
runs ,through 2 defenders and then blocked by the goalie he
does a quick left shift and shoots GOAL !
1-0, now we need to hang on
but within minutes Aspe score from a corner. The crowd goes
wild, the coach goes mad and runs on the pitch. The goal was
scored with a hand or rather fist ! Everyone is arguing with
the ref and amazingly he sees sense and changes his decision
.goal disallowed and SMS win 1- 0
another 3 points in the bag
and a move up the league . Over the next few weeks SMT play
some lower teams so who know , top 4 by half season ?
Goal score Mikel
Man of match Mikel for saving
the day

The Away Match
15th November at Elche CD Illice v San Miguel Tabisam ends in an 'ON THE PITCH BRAWL' - Bob reports on the 2 - 2 draw
This week San Miguel Tabisam went off to Elche for a match against a team 3 places above
them in the league.
For the first time in a couple of weeks SMT had their full first team apart from Rob who appears to be staying in the Uk for the
moment. This brings the number of British players down to just Ollie.
The match kicked off and, within 5 minutes, SMT were in trouble as CD Illice
scored their first goal, which was obviously a bit worrying.
For the next 20 minutes the teams were very evenly matched with a few chances and a few misses.
But SMT got a corner and a great kick into the box was headed in by Jeison
- 1-1.
The celebrations were still going when Ollie took a left footed kick and into the net it goes 1-2. To come back from 1-0 down at Elche was very impressive.
The second half started and the match was getting dirty with a lot of pushing and tripping,
mainly due to the home team panicking.
Unfortunately SMT seemed to come off worse and in a space of 10 minutes both
Jose and Mimi had been shown the red card.
With only 9 players against 11 it was getting difficult, but SMT fought all the way
even managing a couple of shots at goal. But unfortunately it was CD Illice
that scored the next with only 3 minutes to go - 2-2.
As the whistle blew for some reason things got nasty with both teams fighting. Parents from
CD Illice invaded the pitch quickly followed by the few SMT supporters,
which resulted in a scuffle of around 50 people.
It was not a pretty sight with 6 people including adults kicking one of the SMT players on the floor and various other fights. SMT Team Coach and supporters ushered the team off the pitch and into
the changing rooms as quick as possible. The police were called and around 30 minutes later had to escort our team to the coach for their own safety.
This was a good result for SMT and obviously
an unexpected one for CD Illice. SMT should have won but obviously the jubilation was spoilt by the after match activities.
Final score 2-2 & SMT
Man of the match was Hector (goalie) for a number of great saves.

Match report for Saturday the 8th November San Miguel Tabisam v CD Thader from BOB
Before this match begun we new it would not be easy. With 3 red cards last week and a player in the UK it meant we had 4 of our starting line up missing.
The team we were playing are 4th in the league so it was not going to be easy and within 10 minutes of the match starting Thader scored the first goal or rather we gave a home goal which meant 0-1. We battled hard and a few positions were swapped around but unfortunately it soon became 0-2.
With half time looming Miguel scored one back making it 1-2.
Into the second half and the team came out determined but I am afraid not for long, halfway through Thader scored another and then another making it 1-4.
It was a shame as SMT had their biggest crowd yet at around 100 people.
Final score 1-4.

Report for Saturday 1st November from BOB
After some recent good results this should have been a
walkover. The match against Bigastro was changed to San Miguel and therefore giving us an even bigger advantage.
Bigastro are in the relegation zone but certainly played better than their form suggests ,although we were some what handicapped. |
'san mig lady' from
San Miguel Forum asks about local footie training for
her desperate 8 year old - any suggestions please?
Email |
It all started to go wrong 20 minutes in when Bigastro knocked in the first goal.
This was however quickly followed up by a goal from Mikel making it 1-1.
Mimi got a yellow card for a bad tackle shortly followed by Danny and Jesus.
From a corner Ollie then headed the ball but the goalie punched it out It landed at Jeison 's feet and he kicked it straight back in the net. 2-1
Bigastro then scored making it even. Mimi then got his second yellow and was sent of . Danny received his second yellow and was sent off. Now we only have 9 men !!
Tempers were getting high and the local police turned up to keep an eye on things.
The second half began and it was not long before we scored with Jesus shortly followed by him being sent off, Ollie was also given a yellow.
With the match heating up we now had 3 members of the Guardia Civil in place !
|
For some reason the ref was more interested in off the pitch and was constantly telling off the coach and the supporters.
Now we are playing 8 against 11 and it was sure to happen, Bigastro scored an equaliser.
Through sheer determination we held on to the draw. Once again this was a very exciting match on and off the pitch with the lads doing the best possible with a 3 man disadvantage and in the pouring rain.
Final score 3-3. Man of the match Ollie for his determination and hard work |

26 October - San Miguel-Tabisam v El Cabo CD
(from BOB)
A great home win 3 - 2 for San Miguel Tabisam as they out-score an unbeaten team
On a wet rainy Saturday afternoon ( Yes, we do have them ) the match kicked off on time at 5pm.
Playing a team that have not lost this season was not going to be easy ,however San miguel had different
ideas. The team was changed a bit with Ollie playing mid field instead of striker and
Jeison (striker) and Hector (defence) both starting in the first 11.
In Under 10 minutes Hector knocked in the first goal - 1-0.
We were already looking the stronger team and it was not long before goal two came thanks to Mikel
- 2-0. The rain starting coming again and plenty of players were slipping including Ollie who injured his groin and was a shade of his normal self.
Half time was looming and Jeison knocked another one in the net making it 3-0
but within minutes the visitors returned the favour 3-1.
At the
start of the 2nd half it was looking easy for San Miguel, however a
number of changes were made with all the subs getting a game. El Cabo
then started to come back at us and 20 minutes in and they knocked in
their second goal. With our defence giving a number of free kicks this
was looking a bit worrying but thankfully all free kicks were defended
well and we hang on for the 3 points . Attendance 53 probably due to the
weather. Report and fotos courtesy of BOB -

Man
of the Match Hector. His first game starting, scored his first goal and
defended well. |
| Next week San Miguel are away to local team Bigastro so feel free to join us.
If we can pull of the win we could be in the top 4 of the league. |

Match report from BOB for Saturday 18th October. Albatera - San Miguel
Tabisam. With an attendance of 93 the match kicked off at 6.10pm, but
before I start all I can say is that if this match was televised it would be the most repeated match in history.
Albatera were all over us. With 10 minutes gone they knocked in their first goal and it really looked like we would get a sound
thrashing. The ball never seemed to get pass the half way line.
In great spirit and a repeat of 2 weeks ago Ollie started the comeback again,
running at fast speed and jumping over the goalie. Game on 1-1.
A few minutes later Mikel did a move around the goalie and made it 1-2
then before you had chance to applaud, Jeison took a really fast and accurate
goal with a long shot that hit the back of the net, 1-3. With 10 minutes to go before half time and
Albatera got a goal back with their very strong looking number 10. 2-3.
Within minutes another 3-3 and it was
3 minutes to half time when Mikel for San Miguel did it again 3-4.
Out they come second half and Ollie gets the next 3-5. But then Albatera come back again and got another, 4-5.
SMT are awarded a penalty and Ollie takes it, a perfect shot bottom right hand corner but the goalie goes the correct way and saves it! Still 4-5 !
Albatera gets the next 5-5.The match is nearly over the coach is going mad and then Rob passes to Ollie .,Ollie runs with the ball and passes to Jose , Jose crosses it to Mikel
who steadied himself and shoots at GOAL!!! 5-6. We hold on and the whistle blows minutes later.
This was a fantastic result and match. It was a credit to both teams for never giving up.
Next match is at home next Saturday time to be confirmed
Come along and enjoy the fun.
There will be photos to follow in our
San Miguel Tabisam Album |

12 October. Match report San Miguel- Novelda
from our Special SMT Team Correspondant BOB
It was a worrying day with rain falling and the Friday training session being
cancelled. Thankfully the weather held off and the match went ahead as scheduled.
Around 80 supporters in attendance.
The team got off to a great start within 10 minutes when Mikel was passed the ball from Ollie
and ran past the defenders, went around the goalie, and knocked in his first league goal of the season.
After another 10 minutes, Ole ran up the wing, jumped over a sliding tackle and crossed to Mikel,
who timed it to perfection and made it 2-0.
In the first half the wind was in our favour and
Luis took advantage by hitting a perfect shot from way outside the box. With his power and the wind I think their goalie chose to get out of the way... 3-0.
In the second half changes were made to give other players a chance to show their skills.
15 minutes in Ollie took a hard knock and came off shortly followed by Roberto who had played a good solid game.
In the last 10 minutes Novelda earned a penalty and although our goalie dived the correct way it went in the net.
After last weeks defeat this was an excellent comeback from the lads.
Final score 3-1. |

| 5 Oct. Pinoso CF -v- SMT from BOB
It was an early Sunday start for the Juveniles
as the coach left at 8.30 for Pinoso.
The match was again full of controversy with the lads putting on a solid performance, however with the ref making poor decisions they had everything against them.
Firstly a corner was given to Pinoso but as they kicked the ball the ref blew his whistle. Our team started to walk away from the goal confused and then
Pinoso shot and the goal was awarded.
Another corner and whilst the ref was telling Roberto he cannot stand so close to the corner Pinoso took the corner and scored.
A number of fouls were committed by the other team including a handball in the box but
unfortunately the ref carried on.
Despite the score it was a good match and Pinoso at home deserved to win by a goal or 2 but I am certain we will get our own back on the return.
Final score 4-0 to Pinoso all scored in he first half.
Next match is Saturday at 5pm at the sports centre. So tell your friends and support your local team.

| For the Spanish, sport and leisure are definitely weekend pursuits and one of the most important in Spain is Football or Fútbol, which has an even greater national following than in Britain.
