A meeting took place today 12:00
at The Town Hall with The Mayor, Ángel Sáez Huertas, Councillor Sergio Correas Ferrer, Neil Burman a
representative and resident of Balcón de la Costa Blanca and Mª José Coast Medrano, Group President of Asociación de Vecinos por San Miguel de Salinas.
The purpose of the meeting was to outline the action
taken by this administration to resolve the 'accident blackspot' access points to and from the Urbanization
Balcón de la Costa Blanca.
In a report submitted by The Mayor, dated 7 November 2007, to
Servicio Territorial de Carreteras de Alicante he has requested urgent consideration to these access points from the CV 95.
The report states the following:
At present, the access from the CV-95 in direction
of Orihuela and the Casco Urbano of San Miguel of Salinas and to the Urbanization Balcón de la Costa Blanca, is regular by an access in "T" delimited by means of horizontal signposting.
Vehicular traffic at this point is very dense and, according to the reports of the Local Police and of the Civil Guard, is a an access
point that has a high accident. |

The report continues:
In the same way, this
Town Hall has found dealing with the General Plan of town planning, that was approved by the Territorial Commission of Town planning of May 11, 2007, to expenses of presenting a
'Texto Refundido'. In they said document of General Plan is foreseen for that access the construction of a
ROUNDABOUT. (as shown on the plan - left).
Before such circumstances, and in order to
resolve these problems, the Consellería is urged to study and
evaluate the possibility to proceed to the ACCESS ROUNDABOUT construction
with The CASCO URBANO OF SAN MIGUEL AND TO THE
URBANIZATION BALCON OF THE WHITE COAST SINCE THE CV-95, as well as the adoption of the possible alternative solutions that could be carried out by that Autonomous, in order to alleviate the situation and to obtain an access but insurance for said zone.

stressed that, behind this report, was his intention to
gain permission to start this work as a municipal work
rather than wait for any alterations to The CV95 - The
time scale for this work is expected to be two years.

- La Diputación de Alicante
has awarded a grant to The Administration of SMdS for a
new 'Auditorio de Verano' in La Plaza Jaime 1, in the
vicinity of The Casa Cultura. The cost of the project
amounts to 359,622.08 Є of which
a 60% grant will be met by La Diputación
and the work will be completed by 2009....
