The Tourist Information Centre announces that on Saturday 12th
December at 7.30pm there will be a Christmas Concert by "Coro de
Juan Lillo" from San Vicente del Raspeig in The Parochial
Church of
San Miguel de Salinas. The Choir will perform a selection of
traditional Spanish Christmas Carols.
The Mayor, D.Ángel Sáez Huertas, announces that from 11th December until 23rd December those pensioners over 65 years of age who are registered on the
SMdS padron can collect a Christmas Hamper from the Town Hall. This Christmas basket, as given in previous years, is a gesture and benefit for the elderly residents of the town. |

The Local Development Agency
of San Miguel de Salinas Town Hall announces a competition for Christmas.
Designed to give our small town some atmosphere the Business Association of San Miguel has organized a shop window decoration competition.
Besides creating an atmosphere of Christmas Time participants
should combine the establishment’s own products and the following aspects will be assessed:
- Design and originality, Lighting and Innovation. This
is open to all shops located in San Miguel de Salinas and members of the Association.
The display judged to be the best will receive a cash prize in a ceremony at the
Church Square on the 19th December.
The shop window exhibition will last from the
4th Dec 2009 - 2nd Jan 2010.

Town Hall wishes to publicise the fact that flag banners with the picture of the Baby Jesus are now available at the Tourist Office. These traditional flags are the ones that Spanish people hang from their balconies at Christmas time and are priced at only 20€. All the money raised will be used for the San Miguel de Salinas church restoration |

Tuesday 15th December, they will
also repeat last year's successful "Carols in the Square" in the
Church Square in San Miguel de Salinas at 8.00. with the talented
brass band - Just Brass, leading the music, and Vivace members in the crowd, singing and supplying word sheets for everyone. It is a completely informal atmosphere
for a great seasonal event. |

| Vivace will be making a return visit to present a Christmas concert in the Church in the Parochial Church of San Miguel de Salinas on
Thursday 10th December at 8pm. They will perform a beautiful cantata "Night of Miracles" by 20th century composer John W Peterson. Just the thing to start off the Christmas spirit.
Vivace Classical Choir, over 30 members strong, under their Director Tom Pargeter, and accompanied by Nataliya Khomyak,
will perform "With Christmas in Mind", Concerts for
Christmas, on the 4th, 5th and 6th December. These will
be performed respectively at La Siesta Church (7.30pm),
Los Balcones Church (8pm) (both on the outskirts of
Torrevieja), and at Lo Monte Hotel, N.332, Pilar de la

Monday
14th December - Costa Blanca’s newest choir, “In Harmony”, will perform their first concert on Monday 14th December in the Palacio de la Musica in Torrevieja accompanied by Matthew Hopkins, Musical Director of Nottingham Trent University with a special guest appearance of the 13 year old singing sensation, Rebecca Holt. ‘In Harmony’ is a 24 strong choir of auditioned singers brought together by the international singer, conductor, and vocal tutor, Nigel Hopkins, well known for his Torrevieja International West End Choral Workshops.
The Christmas Show, the nearest thing to traditional English Christmas entertainment that you will find in Spain, will include familiar music, audience participation, and seasonal solo performances.
Tickets for the show, which is in support of the MABS cancer charity, are 5€, and are available from the Torrevieja Ticket Office situated outside of the municipal theatre.

19 December - La Rebolica Cultural Association of San Miguel de
Salinas, together with The Councillor for Cultura, Excmo.
Ayuntamiento/ The Town Hall, is organising a Christmas Fair in the Church
Square. It will be a day of cultural exchange with displays of traditional Christmas customs, such as gastronomy, local crafts and Christmas decorations.
The Town Hall invites people to participate in this fair and contribute with their own ideas, traditions and proposals. If you have a business this would be a good opportunity to display and sell your Christmas products, if this is not the case, you can still show the Spanish people the ways that you celebrate it in your native country with typical food and drink as well as what traditions you have and how you decorate your house for Christmas. Everybody can participate.
