| THE TORREVIEJA INTERNATIONAL VETERANS ASSOCIATION 2009 ‘MARCH PAST’ AND FESTIVAL
This year’s event will be part of the San Cristobal festival, by kind invitation of the Mayor and Town Hall of Torrevieja. San Cristobal is the Patron Saint of the Spanish Armed Forces, Emergency Services and Traffic. The festival runs through out the province from the 20th of March to the 3rd of May
The Torrevieja International Veterans Association is open to all nationalities, however, so far only the Spanish, British and Dutch have attended in support of this event in the past, it is hoped that many more Veterans of other countries will join us this year. |
 |
| The date of the Torrevieja International Veteran’s event is 24th April 2009, venue Torrevieja seafront adjacent to the harbour breakwater. There will be a Spanish Marching Band, static display of Military Vehicles and 3 Naval Vessels (which will be open to the public), a parachute jump and an Armed Forces Beach landing.
The afternoon will conclude with a March Past, led the Spanish Marching Band, then by contingents of the Spanish Armed Forces followed by the International Veterans, led by the Royal Naval Association, the Royal Air Force Association, the Royal British Legion and contingents from other National Associations.
For the evening entertainment the following groups have been invited to attend, a South American troupe of dancers, a Flamenco group, a Scottish Pipe Band, and a performance by a pop group such as Abba Elite (all to be confirmed).
VIP invitations have been sent; further details will be promulgated when known. The attendance is expected to be several thousand residents/visitors; the press and TV have been invited. There have also been invitations for all local British ex-Servicemen/women’s Associations to attend events in Orihuela, La Mata (with a flying display, marching bands, and a formal dinner), Guardama, following the Torrevieja event. Events will be promulgated in the local press when further details are known.
Information on the International Veterans Association can be obtained from the President Rod Millington at

The Costa Blanca Riders is a group of multi-national Harley Davidson motorcycle owners based in and around San Miguel de Salinas and Playa Flamenca and they ride all year round. The regular Sunday “ride-out” meets at 11.00 at the café next to The Harley Bar in Cabo Roig on the southbound side of the N332 and often finish the day at La Oficina on CV 951 Torremendo Road. They also enjoy a Wednesday night social at La Luna Bar situated in Los Mimosas near La Florida on Orihuela Costa (+34) 650 049 726). Bar owners Rune and Irene are Harley riders too and have recently taken over the old Iron Horse motorcycle shop in Torrevieja, re-named as Iron Boyzz (+34) 966 702 359. |
|
The Costa Blanca Riders are a very welcoming group to all serious bikers, so why not join them for one of their weekly rides or socials? The Costa Blanca Riders organize rides to local rallies and often travel to more exotic locations - this year runs to Barcelona, St Tropez and Italy or Austria are planned. They have few rules, riding safely in a staggered formation is one important one and, of course, having fun. For more information contact
