About Eagles Nest the Urbanization...this is a well-established community situated about 3kms from the pueblo and consists mainly of detached villas and some apartments. All the roads take their names from different species of Eagle or Áquila. It is somewhat dissected  by the road from San Miguel de Salinas towards Orihuela Costa, although not to its detriment. To the Spanish Eagles Nest is part of Las Filipinas, the name being of much historical importance in that it comes from the name of the ancient Finca on whose many acres of land Eagles Nest and the neighbouring urbanizations were built.

Eagles Nest has a governing body – The Community of Owners or Comunidad de Proprietarios – made up of an elected committee of six owners. They meet monthly and hold a weekly ‘surgery’ for residents. Incorporated under their umbrella is the first Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in San Miguel de Salinas, which operates with the full support of the Local Police and Town Hall. In fact the scheme is a model for co-operation between the parties and has led the urbanization to achieve improvements through a greater dialogue with the Town Hall. Community Liaison is their next project and a member of the committee has been appointed to encourage residents to get more involved in the urbanization’s development.

A monthly newsletter is produced to keep residents informed.  If you would like more information about Urbanization Eagles Nest you can email The Administrator Alan Norris on (+34) 966 723 256

San Miguel Bowls Club has expanded dramatically over the past five years with the ever increasing numbers of new residents and visitors to the area. It is now some 20 years old and has more than 200 members.

Constant improvements are being made at The Club, which boasts a top quality competition standard artificial surface with six rinks. There are 4 mixed teams, 3 in the Southern League and one in the Northern Alicante League, competing with as many as 30 different teams on the Costa Blanca. It hosts many prestigious bowling events, the most recent being the 2005 Spanish National Championships.

Club Days - Monday evenings are set aside for social bowling 5 for 5.30pm. Tuesday and Thursday - mornings 9.30am for 10am and afternoons 1.30pm for 2pm. On Sundays it’s 9.30am for 10am.

There is a full programme of fixtures in The Kings Cup and Saba Competitions and Friendly inter-club matches against other Clubs in the region.

Beginners - On Wednesday afternoon the Wasp’s hit the rink…that’s guests and visitors that have always wanted to try Bowls for the very first time and, perhaps, before committing themselves to membership. There is a charge of 5 euros including the hire of bowls and shoes and that most important help and guidance from experienced club members. This is a very welcoming club so please don’t feel intimidated…come along and try the game.

Club Captain, John Marshall Tel.: 966 774 357

The Highjackers, another small Bowls Group within the Club, traditionally meet to play on Tuesday Evenings and Friday afternoons.

If you follow soccer, they also have a sizeable group within the Torry Army - that's FC Torrevieja
